Autism Specialist TA– Special School
Location: Wandsworth/Merton border, South West London (near Wimbledon or Tooting stations)
Contract: Full-time temp, start ASAP – end of July 2026
Setting: Special school (all types of SEND)
Pay: £100/day (PAYE)
Hours: 8:30am – 4pm, Mon-Fri
What's the job?
Special school on the Wandsworth/Merton edge needs a TA for 1:1 support with an autistic pupil (maybe some extra complex needs too). Help them access a tailored curriculum, handle sensory needs regulate emotions, and build social skills in a supportive SEND setup.
Main tasks:
1:1 help with learning, communication, and daily skills.
Team up with teachers/therapists to tweak resources (visuals, PECS, sensory tools, etc.).
Use autism-friendly strategies for behaviour, sensory needs, and calm vibes.
Chat regularly with SENCo, teachers, and therapists to track progress and hit EHCP goals.
What you need:
Must have proper experience working in special needs schools (not just mainstream) – especially with autism/ASC and complex needs.
Patient, proactive, resilient, and good with structured approaches.
Ready to start now and stick around till July 2026.
Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or get one fast).
