Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Are you a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant eager to support students with ADHD and Autism in their educational journey? Axcis Education is looking for a committed individual to become part of our team in Oldham, Lancashire, working within inclusive mainstream primary and secondary schools. This role involves delivering one-to-one support, helping students achieve their potential, and fostering a safe and encouraging classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualised one-to-one support for pupils with ADHD and Autism, ensuring their specific learning needs are met.
Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere in the classroom, supporting both academic progress and social development.
Collaborate with the lead teacher to implement learning techniques and behavioural strategies aligned with each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP/EHCP).
Act as a bridge between students, parents and school staff to maintain open communication and address both educational and emotional needs.
Support the preparation of classroom materials and help maintain a well-organised and effective learning space.
Track and report on student progress, providing valuable input to teachers and external professionals when needed.
Take part in ongoing training and development to build your knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Follow the school’s safeguarding protocols to ensure a secure and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
Requirements:
Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role, ideally within a SEN or mainstream school setting.
Solid understanding of the unique challenges faced by learners with ADHD and Autism.
Patient, empathetic and capable of motivating and guiding young people.
Strong communication abilities to build effective relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
A thorough understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to student welfare.
Good organisational skills and the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.
A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification and/or experience supporting children with special educational needs is highly advantageous.
