**Job Title**: Teaching Assistant (Ukrainian Speaking)
**Location**: Manchester, Greater Manchester
**Role**: 1:1 Teaching Assistant with SEMH Experience
**Job Overview:**
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant who is fluent in Ukrainian to join our team. The successful candidate will work 1:1 with a student who requires additional support, particularly with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role also involves translating communication between school staff and Ukrainian-speaking parents or guardians, to ensure a clear and effective partnership in supporting the student’s education.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a student with identified SEMH challenges, including bespoke learning activities and emotional support.
- Develop and maintain a trusting relationship with the student to enhance their learning experience and emotional well-being.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of individualized lesson plans and learning materials.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to monitor and review the student’s progress.
- Act as a linguistic bridge for effective communication between the school and Ukrainian-speaking parents or guardians, including translating written documents and interpreting in meetings.
- Facilitate an inclusive learning environment that respects diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Adhere to school policies, including those related to safeguarding and child protection.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
- Help to foster a safe, organized, and supportive classroom environment.
**Qualifications and Skills:**
- Proficient in Ukrainian and English, both verbal and written.
- Experience working with children, especially in a 1:1 capacity.
- Previous experience or training in supporting children with SEMH needs is highly advantageous.
- A relevant qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent, is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient with a passion for helping children to overcome challenges.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
