Teaching Assistant
Axminster
Pay: £90–£95 per day
Hours: Full-time
Axcis Education is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support a friendly primary school in Axminster. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping children, particularly those with additional needs, to develop academically, socially, and emotionally within a supportive school environment.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience working with children in a school or educational setting (essential)
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly SEMH (essential)
• A child-enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service—or willingness to apply through Axcis
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• A positive, reliable, and flexible approach to working as part of a team
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
• Providing additional support to individual pupils and small groups
• Encouraging positive behaviour and active engagement in learning
• Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
• Promoting children’s social, emotional, and mental wellbeing
• Working closely with teachers, school staff, and following safeguarding procedures
Experience Desired:
• Previous experience supporting children in schools (professional or personal experience considered)
• Knowledge of working with children with SEMH or other SEND needs
• Experience with primary-aged pupils is an advantage
