Position: Secondary School Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support
Location: Manchester
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: £13.60 per hour / £89–£105 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary

Are you passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We’re currently seeking dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across Manchester, supporting students who require additional emotional and behavioural support. This full-time teaching assistant role begins in September 2025 and is ideal for individuals who are driven to make a difference in a classroom environment where relationships and resilience matter most.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to secondary-aged students with SEMH needs, both 1:1 and in small groups
Help promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour within the classroom setting
Support teachers in delivering lessons that meet diverse learning needs
Implement de-escalation strategies and behaviour management techniques when required
Foster a consistent, safe, and structured environment to help students succeed

What We’re Looking For:
Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs (in education, care, or youth work settings)
A supportive, nurturing attitude with strong relationship-building skills
Ability to adapt across different subjects and year groups within a secondary school
An understanding of trauma-informed practice and emotional wellbeing
A genuine interest in supporting student development beyond academics
