Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Glastonbury
Setting: All-through SEMH School
Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday
Pay: £14.50 – £15 per hour
Contract: Long-term
The school provides a therapeutic and individualised approach where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence resilience and independence through tailored support and engaging learning experiences. As a Teaching Assistant you will work alongside experienced staff to help learners overcome barriers to education and achieve positive outcomes.
As a Teaching Assistant you will build positive relationships with pupils encourage engagement in learning and support them to develop confidence in their abilities while accessing a broad and meaningful curriculum.
What the Teaching Assistant role involves:
• Working as a Teaching Assistant supporting pupils across primary and secondary age groups
• Providing 1:1 and small group support as a Teaching Assistant to help learners access education
• Supporting pupils with social emotional and mental health needs as a Teaching Assistant
• Encouraging confidence independence and participation throughout the school day as a Teaching Assistant
• Working alongside teachers and wider professionals as a Teaching Assistant to deliver personalised support
• Supporting communication emotional regulation and positive engagement as a Teaching Assistant
• Helping create a safe consistent and inclusive learning environment as a Teaching Assistant
• Monitoring progress and sharing observations with the wider school team as a Teaching Assistant
What we are looking for in a Teaching Assistant:
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children and young people is desirable
• An interest in working within an SEMH setting as a Teaching Assistant
• A calm patient and adaptable approach as a Teaching Assistant
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a Teaching Assistant
• A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting individual learning journeys as a Teaching Assistant
• A genuine passion for helping children and young people achieve their potential as a Teaching Assistant
