We are currently seeking an experienced Telecom Support Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cairo, Egypt. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality technical support for our telecom systems and ensuring the optimal performance of telecom services for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain telecom systems and applications, focusing on protocols such as SS7, ISDN, and SIP.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to voice and data communications networks, providing timely and accurate resolutions.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve outages and perform necessary hardware or software updates.
- Implement and oversee system upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery operations.
- Provide technical guidance and support for customers, addressing their inquiries and concerns with professionalism.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of telecom services with other IT infrastructure.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and advancements in the telecom industry, suggesting enhancements when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 support for critical telecom systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in telecommunications support or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of signaling protocols such as SS7, ISDN, and SIP is essential.
- Familiarity with VoIP technologies, session border controllers (SBCs), and media gateways.
- Experience with telecom-related testing and diagnostic tools.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a capacity to articulate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Availability to work outside of regular business hours when necessary.
- Fluent in English, with Arabic proficiency considered an asset.
