Description
Are you someone who thrives on making a difference and being a positive influence? We’re looking for a friendly, caring, and motivated Teaching Assistant to join the specialist provision at one of the region’s leading further education colleges in the Radstock area.
About the role
In this full-time role (8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday), you will support 16-18-year-old students with autism and learning disabilities in their specialist provision. After an initial 16-week settling-in period, the role will become permanent. We also offer the option to finish at 3:30 pm and work a four-day week, if that suits you better. The pay is competitive at £13.70 per hour.
Why this is a great place to work
You’ll be working at a college that serves a diverse mix of learners and is committed to specialist support for students with high needs. According to the latest inspection by Ofsted, the college’s “education programmes for young people” and “provision for learners with high needs” were rated Good.
The campus in the Somer Valley offers a welcoming community feel and excellent facilities for hands-on learning and specialist support.
Who we’re looking for
We’re after someone who:
Has the right personality: kind, patient, enthusiastic, approachable.
Believes that every young person deserves support, encouragement and a chance to succeed.
Enjoys working with young people who may face challenges, and can adapt to individual needs and varying tasks.
Has good communication skills and a positive, inclusive mindset.
Whether you’re a recent graduate, youth worker, sports coach, teaching assistant or support worker looking for meaningful work — if you care about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them thrive, we want to hear from you.
What you’ll do
Work alongside our specialist staff to support students with autism and learning disabilities in a college setting.
Help students engage in their learning, support their independence and social development, assist in small groups or one-to-one, and help create a safe, respectful learning environment.
Be part of a team who value each student as an individual, encourage positive attitudes and behaviour, and strive to help each learner reach their potential.
