Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Service Operations team of a leading telecommunications provider, supporting the delivery and maintenance of access networks in the Isle of Man. This hands-on engineering role is instrumental in the design, supervision, and implementation of fibre and infrastructure solutions.
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting with the planning, construction, and modification of access networks including fibre optic builds and civil works.
• Conducting field surveys and producing scheme documentation to determine optimal service routes.
• Carrying out fibre splicing for both internal installations (CSSPs, FDPs, FTTP Splitter Nodes) and external nodes (Prysmian LMJ/MMJ).
• Installing internal cabling across MDUs and single premises using INTEX and Invizi cable.
• Coordinating with local authorities and developers to obtain wayleaves and supervise infrastructure delivery.
• Supporting fibre installation for residential and commercial premises.
• Maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory procedures.
• Supporting cross-functional engineering projects and collaborating with core network teams as required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of telecommunications delivery methods, including IP, Carrier Ethernet, FTTP, VOIP, and legacy voice systems. Practical fibre splicing experience and familiarity with structured cabling installations are essential.
Applicants should be self-motivated, technically competent, and capable of working independently or within a team environment. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a focus on service excellence are key qualities sought for this role.
