Autism Support Assistant – Secondary | From £89/day | Barking & Dagenham | September Start | Full Time | Long Term
We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant for a secondary mainstream school in Barking & Dagenham with a dedicated Autism Resource Base. The school is located a short walk from Barking Station, with excellent public transport links and a strong reputation for inclusion. With a recent “Good” Ofsted and a commitment to specialist CPD, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their experience in autism support.
In this role, you will be:
• Supporting autistic pupils in the ARP and mainstream classrooms.
• Providing 1:1 and small group support with communication and regulation.
• Using structured approaches like PECS, visuals, or social stories.
• Helping pupils access the curriculum and maintain routines.
• Encouraging independence and confidence in social settings.
What we are looking for:
• Experience supporting children or young people with ASD.
• Confidence using structured strategies to support communication.
• A calm, consistent and positive approach to behaviour.
• Experience working in a school, youth setting or care environment.
