A leading independent trust and private client services firm is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Client Accounting Manager to join their Guernsey office. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to work in a progressive and supportive environment while leading and developing a small team of accountants and bookkeepers.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of accountants and bookkeepers at various levels, overseeing workflow across the client accounting function, and ensuring the timely delivery of accurate financial statements in a cost-effective manner. The role also involves working closely with trust administration teams, contributing to policy development, and engaging with transformation projects around automation.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and prioritise the workload of the client accounting team to ensure deadlines are met.
• Review and approve financial statements prepared by the team to a high standard.
• Liaise with trust administration teams to clear queries promptly.
• Contribute to the development of improved policies and procedures.
• Act as a key liaison on automation initiatives across jurisdictions.
• Produce management information and monitor key performance indicators.
• Manage timesheets, holidays, and work scheduling.
• Conduct performance reviews and support staff development.
• Prepare annual budgets in conjunction with the Finance Director.
• Provide training and mentoring to both accounting and administration staff.
• Assist with preparation of internal annual financial statements.
About You
• ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 1 year’s post-qualification experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting and trust/company financial statements.
• Proven people management skills, with experience in supervising and developing staff.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships.
• High attention to detail with the ability to review moderately complex documentation.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Commercial awareness with a focus on cost-effectiveness and client service excellence.
