Our client, an established independent financial services business in Guernsey, is looking to appoint an Assistant Finance Manager to join its Finance team.
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Senior Officer-level candidate looking to take the next step into management, with responsibility for both technical finance work and the supervision of a small number of team members.
The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager and Finance Director and will take particular responsibility for financial reporting and finance operations relating to the organisation’s UK and Switzerland jurisdictions.
The role will include:
• Supervising the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packs and annual budgets
• Reviewing general ledger postings and ensuring the accuracy of financial information
• Reviewing VAT returns and supporting compliance with relevant UK requirements
• Managing and supervising the preparation of annual financial statements
• Liaising with auditors across allocated jurisdictions
• Supporting Companies House and other UK statutory requirements
• Ensuring cross-border services are correctly invoiced and recorded
• Preparing and managing forward-looking cashflow forecasts
• Overseeing bank and intercompany reconciliations
• Supporting debt collection and credit control
• Reviewing finance processes and recommending improvements
• Deputising for the Finance Manager where required
• Supervising a small number of team members, allocating work and ensuring deadlines are met
• Supporting performance reviews, objective setting and staff development
The ideal candidate will have:
• A recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or equivalent
• Strong technical accounting knowledge
• Previous supervisory or people-management experience
• Familiarity with UK accounting and statutory requirements, including Companies House and VAT
• Experience of preparing or reviewing financial statements
• Experience of cross-border accounting and, ideally, transfer pricing considerations
• The confidence to review work, manage competing deadlines and support more junior team members
• A practical, commercial approach and high attention to detail
