Description

Are you looking for meaningful work supporting local primary-aged children with SEMH, autism and learning disabilities? We’re seeking an Autism School Support Assistant to join a caring and inclusive specialist provision in Odd Down, Bath, working closely with pupils and their families in partnership with a local primary school featuring a dedicated autism resource base.
About the School & Setting
Set within a mainstream primary school with a specialist facility for pupils with autistic spectrum conditions, this setting is recognised for its nurturing environment and inclusive approach
A recent Ofsted inspection (July 2023) rated the school’s overall effectiveness as "Requires Improvement" — while behaviour and personal development were rated Good, and early years provision is also Good. Importantly, pupils with complex needs are well supported, and emotional management is handled skillfully by staff
The Role
• Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30?am–3:30?pm, starting ASAP.
• Pay rate: £13.70 per hour.
• Temporary for an initial 16 week settling in period, with the opportunity to become permanent.
Who We Want
We’re more interested in your values and personality than your background. You’re local (or based nearby), caring, patient, and committed to inclusive education. You enjoy building relationships and encouraging vulnerable young people to thrive. Whether you’re a graduate, youth worker, sports coach, teaching assistant, or support worker, this is your chance to make a real difference.
What You’ll Bring
• A calm, warm, and flexible approach.
• A genuine interest in supporting children with social, emotional or learning challenges.
• A team player attitude — enthusiastic about working alongside class teachers and specialists.
• A spirit of inclusivity and a drive for helping each child reach their potential.
Why Apply?
• Work in a specialist provision that genuinely supports children with autism and SEMH.
• Join a school with strong behaviour and personal development standards, where children feel safe and valued
• Make a meaningful impact in your community right here in Bath.
