Job Title: 2:1 Teaching Assistant – SEND College (Autism Specialist)
Location: Newton-Le-Willows (WA12)
Start Date: Immediate Starts Available
Contract Type: Full-Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm

We are currently recruiting for a 2:1 Teaching Assistant to support a student at a specialist SEND college in Newton-Le-Willows. The college supports young people aged 16 to 25 with autism and additional needs, with a strong focus on independence, life skills, and preparing for adulthood.

This role will involve working closely with one student who is a wheelchair user, requiring consistent, tailored support throughout the college day.

As a 2:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the student can fully access all aspects of college life in a safe, supportive, and inclusive way.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide 2:1 support for a student with autism and physical needs
Support mobility and accessibility throughout the college day (including working alongside another TA)
Assist with personal care where required (training can be provided)
Adapt learning activities to meet individual EHCP outcomes
Support communication, emotional regulation, and engagement
Enable participation in both classroom and vocational activities
Work closely with tutors, therapists, and support staff
Promote independence, dignity, and confidence at all times
What We’re Looking For:
Experience supporting individuals with autism and/or physical disabilities
Comfortable supporting a wheelchair user (manual handling experience desirable, but training can be provided)
A calm, patient, and compassionate approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a 2:1 support team
Confidence supporting personal care needs (or willingness to learn)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting young people with complex needs
