Position: Classroom Assistant (Secondary School)
Location: Weymouth, Dorset
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay: £92-£100 per day
Start Date: ASAP

A welcoming and supportive secondary school in Weymouth is seeking a dedicated Classroom Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASC), communication difficulties and additional learning needs, helping them build confidence, engage in learning and achieve their full potential.

About the Role
As a Classroom Assistant, you will provide essential support to students both on a 1:1 basis and through small-group interventions. You will work collaboratively with teachers and the wider pastoral team to create a positive and nurturing learning environment where every student can succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting students with SEMH needs, Autism (ASC), communication difficulties and additional learning needs
• Delivering 1:1 support and facilitating small-group intervention sessions
• Helping pupils access lessons and engage confidently in classroom activities
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students
• Encouraging emotional regulation, resilience and independence
• Supporting behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
• Working alongside teachers to implement personalised learning and support plans
• Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

What We're Looking For:
• Have experience working with young people, children or vulnerable adults
• Are patient, empathetic and resilient
• Have an interest in SEND, SEMH or education
• Can build strong relationships and act as a positive role model
• Are confident supporting students who may present with challenging behaviour
• Are committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning
Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor or Care Worker would be advantageous, but is not essential.
