We are a dedicated special school providing day provision for pupils aged 7 to 19 with a wide range of additional needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, ASD, and associated speech, language and communication needs.

The Role
We are seeking passionate, patient and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to join the school. You will work alongside teaching staff to support pupils with a range of additional needs across the school.
Pupils may have needs including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Moderate to severe learning difficulties
Speech, language and communication needs
Complex or additional needs
Social, emotional and behavioural needs
Communication difficulties, including pupils who may be pre-verbal or non-verbal
The role may involve:
Providing 1:1, small group and whole-class support
Supporting pupils to engage with learning and classroom activities
Helping pupils develop their communication, independence and social skills
Assisting with personal care where required
Supporting pupils who may become dysregulated or display behaviours that challenge
Using positive and consistent behaviour support strategies
Working closely with class teachers, support staff and the wider multidisciplinary team
Helping to create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly ASD and complex needs, although this is desirable rather than essential
Is calm, patient, resilient and able to build strong, trusting relationships
Is comfortable supporting pupils with a range of communication and learning needs
Can respond positively and consistently to behaviours that challenge
Is flexible and willing to support across different classes or areas of the school where required
Is committed to promoting inclusion, independence, respect and equality
