Description
Location: Taunton
Pay: £92.00 – £109.00 per day
Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only | Permanent Opportunity
We are looking for a caring, patient and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Taunton.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs and an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You will play an important role in helping them access learning, build confidence and independence, and participate fully in all aspects of school life.
The Role:
Working closely with teachers, the SENCo and the wider learning support team, you will provide personalised support tailored to the individual needs of the pupil.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
• Helping the pupil access and engage with the curriculum
• Adapting learning materials and activities to meet individual needs
• Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence
• Supporting positive social interactions with peers and staff
• Helping the pupil manage transitions and changes to routine
• Recognising and responding appropriately to emotional dysregulation or anxiety
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teachers and the SENCo
• Supporting the pupil in working towards their individual EHCP targets
• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to review meetings
• Ensuring the pupil feels safe, understood and included
We're Looking For Someone Who:
• Has experience working with children or young people
• Is patient, empathetic and adaptable
• Can build strong and trusting relationships
• Understands the importance of individualised support
• Is confident adapting their approach to meet different needs
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Works effectively as part of a wider team
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Previous experience supporting children with SEND would be highly beneficial, as would a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification. However, we are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable experience and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Why Apply?
• Make a genuine and lasting difference to a young person's life
• Develop valuable experience supporting SEND and EHCP targets
• Build specialist skills in 1:1 learning and pastoral support
• Work closely with an experienced education and SEND team
• Gain experience supporting academic, social and emotional development
• Secure a full-time, term-time role with long-term potential
