Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)?
Axcis Education is working with a welcoming infant school in Brislington, Bristol, to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech and language difficulties.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with younger children during an important stage of their development, helping them build their communication skills, confidence and independence while accessing the curriculum.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with speech and language needs
• Help children develop their communication, vocabulary and social interaction skills
• Support pupils to engage with classroom learning and activities
• Use appropriate strategies to encourage communication and participation
• Build positive and trusting relationships with young children
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider school team
• Help create a nurturing, inclusive and language-rich learning environment
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who:
• Has experience supporting children with speech, language or communication difficulties (desirable but not essential)
• Ideally has experience working within an Early Years or Key Stage 1 setting
• Is patient, nurturing and able to communicate effectively with young children
• Can adapt their approach to meet individual children's needs
• Has strong teamwork and communication skills
• Is passionate about supporting children's early development and inclusion
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
