Climate Change Communications and Engagement Officer

£20 per hour
Full Time Contract

We are currently looking for a Climate Change Communications and Engagement Officer for a role in Southwark. The Climate Change Communications and Engagement Officer will be supporting engagement activity to deliver our start for life programme, this will include facilitating consultation activity in communities and aiding us to promote individual services and new programmes , both in person and by helping us create marketing materials.

Responsibilities:


To lead on the development, management and delivery of an outward facing communications and engagement programme to ensure that local people and other key stakeholders are informed, listened to and involved in the council’s climate change work.

Work with colleagues in the communications team and wider external affairs team to ensure delivery of communication and engagement activity related to climate change, and ensure consistency of message

To manage the council’s resident engagement in relation to climate change, including driving behavioural change and public campaigning activity.

Working with the web team and communications team, help develop the council’s digital climate change work, including climate change aspects of our website and other digital platforms

Skills and Experience:

1. Good knowledge of the most effective ways to communicate with a range of different stakeholders
2. Educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and aptitude.
6. Experience of communicating with residents and stakeholders using a range of different channels
5. A good knowledge and understanding of a range of climate change and environmental sustainability issues.
