College Learning Support Assistant
Location: HD1
Pay: From £89 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
Start Date: ASAP
Are you passionate about helping young people with additional needs thrive in education? Axcis Education is seeking dedicated college learning support assistant to work in further education settings, supporting learners to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
The Role:
As a student support assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping learners with additional needs access the curriculum, develop independence, and engage positively in their college experience. You’ll work closely with teaching staff and the Inclusion Manager to provide practical, emotional, and behavioural support.
Main Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 or small group support during lessons across a range of subjects
• Motivate and encourage students to participate, interact socially, and develop life skills
• Keep accurate records of student attendance, progress, and the support delivered
• Reinforce learning and provide mentoring or guidance as appropriate
• Support students during non-classroom times (breaks, transitions, etc.)
• Help adapt learning materials and assist in setting student development goals
• Promote confidence, employability, and personal growth
• Accompany students on educational trips, work placements, or college events
What We’re Looking For:
• A relevant qualification in learning support (or willingness to train)
• Basic IT skills (e.g., Word, Outlook, internet)
• Experience working with individuals with SEND (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning difficulties)
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• A sound understanding of safeguarding, equality, and inclusive practice
• A commitment to continuous professional development
