Full-Time Communication Assistant – (September Start)
Axcis Education is working in partnership with a specialist setting in East Devon to recruit a full-time Communication Assistant to start in September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with hearing loss and complex needs. You will play a key role in helping students access learning and develop their communication and independence skills.
About the Role:
Full-time, term-time only
Supporting deaf children and young people across different age groups
Using a range of communication methods, including British Sign Language (BSL), speech, and visual aids
Working 1:1 and in small groups
Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff
Assisting with adapted resources and supporting student engagement
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have a genuine interest in supporting deaf students
Be confident and proactive, with excellent communication skills
Hold a BSL qualification (Level 2 or above desirable) or be willing to train
Be flexible and able to work across different learning environments
Have experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or care setting
