Job Title: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: London, Wandsworth
Hours: 8:30am-4:00pm
Pay: Paid to scale

Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join our educational team in London. Our school caters to students of all ages with a range of complex needs including physical, emotional, behavioural, and learning difficulties. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs and be committed to inclusivity and personalized support.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide tailored assistance to students with complex needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and engage effectively in learning activities.
• Work closely with the lead teacher to implement individual education plans (IEP) and behaviour support plans, adapting resources and strategies to meet the diverse needs of each student.
• Assist with the daily care of students, which may include support with mobility, feeding, and personal hygiene, while encouraging independence.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, psychologists, and other educational professionals to support students' overall development.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and learning.
• Assist in the development of social skills through guided interaction with peers and structured activities.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the lead teacher and contributing to assessments and reports.
• Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to special education and complex needs support.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with children or young adults with complex needs in an educational or care setting.
• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or a relevant field is desirable, but not essential.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, resilience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Willingness to undergo relevant training, including safeguarding, first aid, and any specific interventions as required by the school.
• An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
