**Key Responsibilities:**
- Plan, prepare and deliver comprehensive science lessons that align with the national curriculum and engage students of varying abilities.
- Foster a classroom environment that stimulates curiosity and learning, promoting a positive attitude towards science.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and additional support where necessary.
- Set and mark assignments, tests, and exams; maintain accurate records of student performance.
- Implement classroom management strategies to create a structured learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the science department to develop curriculum materials and resources.
- Participate in department meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school-wide professional development initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in science education and incorporate innovative teaching techniques as appropriate.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for students, guiding them in their academic and personal development.
**Qualifications:**
- A bachelor's degree in Science or a related field.
- A Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent teaching qualification, with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
- Proven experience teaching science in a secondary school environment.
- Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 science curriculum.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and able to handle multiple priorities.
- A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to cater to a diverse range of learning needs.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
