Job Title: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth, London
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm
Pay: Paid to scale
Start Date: Monday 1st September

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team of educators at a leading school in Wandsworth, London. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have a range of complex needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and emotional or behavioural challenges. This role requires patience, creativity, and the ability to foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with complex needs, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and are able to achieve their full potential.
• Work in partnership with the class teacher to prepare and adapt educational materials that accommodate the specific learning needs of each student.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavioural Support Plans (BSPs).
• Provide one-to-one or small group support, as required, to aid students' learning and social development.
• Employ a range of strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with the school's policies.
• Facilitate the physical needs of students, which may include moving and handling where necessary, with due regard to pupil safety.
• Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and relevant professionals.
• Assist with personal care tasks as required, always respecting the dignity and privacy of the students.
• Maintain effective communication with teachers, parents, and colleagues to support student well-being and educational goals.

Qualifications:
• Have a minimum NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification.
• Have experience working with children with complex needs in an educational setting.
• Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Be committed to the ethos of inclusive education and have a genuine passion for helping children with complex needs succeed.
• Have good organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Be proactive in identifying the needs of students and creative in providing solutions.
