Description
Axcis Education is looking for a caring, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant to support Reception-age pupils in a warm and inclusive primary school based in Bedminster, Bristol. Starting in September 2025, this is a full-time, term-time only role (Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm) and is a great opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood education and supporting young children with additional needs.
The Role:
• Support Reception pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or early behavioural challenges
• Help young children develop emotional regulation skills using gentle, age-appropriate behaviour strategies
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a structured, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment
• Encourage engagement in early learning activities, play-based learning, and social interaction with peers
• Foster resilience, independence, and confidence in every child
The Ideal Candidate:
• Experience supporting young children in EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) or a nursery setting is highly desirable
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach, particularly when managing challenging behaviour
• Familiarity with early childhood development and behaviour management strategies
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
