Description
A well-established trust company in Guernsey is seeking a skilled and dedicated Compliance Manager to join their team on either a permanent or fixed term basis. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in safeguarding the organisation’s compliance framework and ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, working closely with the external Compliance Officer, MLCO, and MLRO.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures in line with local and international regulations, including those set by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC).
• Act as a subject matter expert on compliance matters, providing guidance to senior management and staff.
• Monitor and report on compliance performance, ensuring accurate and timely regulatory submissions.
• Conduct risk assessments and audits, identifying areas for improvement.
• Oversee compliance sign-off for new business and clients, monitor complaints, and manage statutory registers.
• Lead the customer due diligence (CDD) process and client risk assessments.
• Serve as the main contact with regulatory bodies, including the GFSC.
• Coordinate with external MLCO, Compliance Officer, and MLRO on compliance issues and CMP testing outcomes.
• Prepare regulatory reports, annual compliance reviews, board reports, and other required documentation.
• Maintain strong communication with auditors, legal advisors, and other stakeholders.
• Manage and support the Compliance and Operations Administrator.
• Foster a strong culture of compliance across the business.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a compliance or regulatory role within trust, fiduciary, or financial services.
• Strong understanding of the Guernsey regulatory framework.
• ICA or equivalent compliance qualification (highly desirable).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and risk management abilities.
