We're recruiting a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a thriving secondary school in Taunton this September.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Teaching Assistants, or anyone with experience working with young people who is looking to develop their classroom skills in a supportive school environment.
The school has a strong reputation for high expectations, excellent pastoral care, and ensuring every student feels supported to achieve their potential.
The Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring lessons run smoothly and students remain engaged with the work that has been set.
You won't be expected to plan or deliver lessons, but you will play a key role in maintaining a calm, purposeful learning environment where students can continue to make progress.
Alongside classroom cover, there may be opportunities to support students with interventions, administrative tasks, or wider school activities when cover is not required.
Your Responsibilities:
• Supervise classes using pre-prepared lesson plans
• Manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive engagement
• Ensure students remain focused and complete the work provided
• Build positive relationships with students and staff
• Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons
• Support the wider school community when not covering lessons
• Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times

• Confident leading groups of young people
• Calm, organised, and resilient
• An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Able to build positive relationships quickly
• Interested in education and supporting young people to succeed
Experience working with children or young people through education, coaching, youth work, tutoring, or similar settings is highly desirable.
