Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Pay: £92.63 – £100 per day PAYE
Axcis Education is looking to recruit a caring Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school near Axminster. This full-time Teaching Assistant opportunity is perfect for someone who enjoys supporting young learners and is committed to helping children flourish both inside and outside the classroom.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide individual and small-group support for primary-aged pupils. You will play an important role in helping children overcome barriers to learning while encouraging their academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, social development and positive behaviour. Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
• Delivering one-to-one and small-group support to primary-aged pupils across the curriculum
• Assisting children with a range of academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs
• Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs to participate fully in school life
• Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience and independence through consistent support and encouragement
• Helping children develop communication skills, confidence and positive relationships with their peers
• Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to deliver tailored learning support
• Monitoring pupil progress and celebrating achievements both in and out of the classroom
• Contributing to a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment where every child can succeed
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:
• Have a warm, patient and encouraging approach when working with primary-aged children
• Have professional experience in education, childcare or a school-based role as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar, or personal experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional needs
• Candidates with transferable experience in nursing, care, family support, youth work, residential care or other caring professions are encouraged to apply
• Be confident supporting pupils with a variety of academic, behavioural, emotional and social needs
• Be passionate about helping children develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning
• Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a supportive and dedicated school team
