Job Opportunity: Customs Clearance Specialist

Are you an experienced Customs Clearance Specialist looking to join a dynamic and forward-thinking freight forwarding company? This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-established logistics firm with over 40 years in the industry, specialising in global import/export via multimodal transport – including sea, air, road, and rail.

The Role
You will play a key part in the customs team, processing import clearances for key clients across various transport modes. The ideal candidate will already have experience in customs documentation and a solid understanding of UK import procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and complete customs import entries using CDS
Liaise with clients, hauliers, and port authorities to ensure smooth customs clearance
Provide guidance to clients on importing into the UK, including commodity codes, duties, and procedures
Ensure compliance with HMRC and AEO standards
Raise duty and VAT invoices, and manually calculate taxes when necessary
Maintain accurate records and uphold service standards in line with company policies
Ideal Candidate Profile
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a freight forwarding or customs clearance environment
Strong knowledge of CDS entries (deep-sea and/or European road freight)
Comfortable navigating HMRC resources and understanding commodity codes
Familiarity with FTA, Origin, and Preference rules
Experience using CNS, Destin8 (CCS-UK and Multi-freight experience is a bonus)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and a team-player attitude
Strong English and mathematical ability
