An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced accounting professional to join a leading professional services business in Guernsey at Director level.
Working as part of a collaborative, multi-jurisdictional accounting team, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the delivery of high-quality accounting and financial reporting services across a diverse client portfolio, while leading and developing colleagues and contributing to client relationships and business growth.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
• Leading, managing and developing team members, ensuring work is planned and delivered to agreed deadlines and service standards.
• Reviewing and overseeing the preparation of financial statements, management accounts and other client reporting.
• Providing oversight and guidance on complex accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Building strong relationships with clients, auditors and third-party service providers.
• Supporting the onboarding of new clients and working collaboratively with colleagues across different jurisdictions.
• Monitoring accounting records and reporting deadlines to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and make effective use of technology and accounting systems.
• Providing coaching and internal training to support the development of colleagues.
• Supporting business development opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
• Presenting financial information clearly to client boards, investors and other stakeholders.
• Identifying and managing risks while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulatory requirements.
The Candidate
The successful candidate should have:
• An ACA or ACCA qualification, or be qualified through relevant experience.
• Strong technical knowledge and practical experience of UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams, including coaching, delegation and performance management.
• Experience managing complex accounting engagements and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• The ability to make sound commercial decisions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to explain complex accounting matters clearly.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and demanding deadlines.
