the role.
This is an exciting opportunity for either a NEBOSH Qualified H & S Professional or an Engineer who would like a change of career and to be supported in taking their H & S Qualification to join a lovely, friendly and well-established Felixstowe-based business to look after everything Health and Safety related.
You will have overall management responsibilities for Health, Safety & Environmental matters to ensure the company meets all legal requirements, as well as of course as providing a safe environment for everyone to be in, customers, staff and visitors. The company has 4 sites in total, but you would mainly be based in Felixtowe with travel to the other locations as required for audit or to onboard a new starter etc.
Day to day you will carry out annual reviews of risk assessments or produce new ones when required, you will hold the reporting for any near misses or accidents and carry out investigations should anything arise. You will chair regular H & S Meetings, and most importantly carry on the commitment to H & S through everything you do and drive this unwaveringly throughout the business……….there are 42 members of staff in all and they are used to working safely, but of course, need keeping informed of any changes and be reminded if somethings gets forgotten, this is definitely not a full-time desk job, you will know everyone and will be constantly on the lookout for ways to improve safety and enforcing current procedures where needed.

what we’re looking for.
Either a NEBOSH qualified H & S professional with a demonstrable background of working in a similar role, or someone with an engineering background who would like to make a move into H&S. Due to the travel you will of course need to drive, and there me some long days when travelling, but these aren’t every week and you can take back your time. A clear communication style is a must here as well as the confidence to make recommendations / speak to members of the team who perhaps have done something incorrectly.
