SEND Teaching Assistant Jobs for UWE Bristol Students – Gain Hands-On Experience Supporting Children with SEND
Location: Bristol and surrounding areas (including South Gloucestershire)
Employer: Axcis Education
Hours: Very flexible during school days only – typically 8:30am to 3:30pm, with part-time shifts, full days, or casual cover to fit around your uni timetable
Pay: £89–£95 per day (competitive rates, paid weekly)

Are you a UWE Bristol student passionate about making a real difference to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Want rewarding, flexible work that slots neatly into school hours (roughly 8:30am–3:30pm on weekdays), leaves your evenings and weekends free, and gives you fantastic experience to boost your CV?
At Axcis Education, we partner with brilliant schools across Bristol – specialist SEND settings and inclusive mainstream classrooms alike – to deliver the extra support these children thrive on. As a Teaching Assistant through us, you'll be right at the heart of the school day, helping kids feel included, confident, and ready to learn.
What you’ll be doing (all during school hours):

Providing one-to-one or small-group support for children with needs such as autism (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, learning differences, physical disabilities, or speech, language and communication needs
Joining in with classroom activities, running tailored interventions, and supporting everyday learning
Forming warm, positive relationships that make children feel safe, valued, and part of the class

Perfect if you’re studying (or keen on):

Psychology
Education / Early Childhood Studies
Social Work / Youth Work
Sociology
Health & Social Care
Or eyeing a career in teaching, educational psychology, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, or related fields

No school experience needed whatsoever! We welcome enthusiastic, reliable students who truly care about young people with SEND. You’ll get full training, ongoing support, and your own dedicated consultant to guide you every step.
Why this works so well for students:

Earn money while building hands-on SEND and education experience
Develop skills, confidence, and insights that will really stand out on future job applications
Friendly, supportive team that prioritises your growth and wellbeing
Ideal launchpad into education, psychology, social care, or therapy careers

If you’re enthusiastic about inclusion, love being around children and young people, and want paid, flexible work experience that fits student life and happens only during school hours, this is a brilliant fit.
