Description
Are you looking for flexible and meaningful work supporting children and young people? We are seeking friendly, patient and reliable Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary and secondary schools in Taunton and Bridgwater. This role offers variety, purpose and the chance to make a positive impact every day.
You’ll support pupils with SEMH needs, autism and learning disabilities, helping them feel included, safe and confident in their lessons. You will work in different schools depending on where support is needed, and there are opportunities for permanent roles if you receive strong feedback.
This is an excellent option for anyone looking to gain experience in education — especially those considering teaching, psychology, youth work, mental health or SEN pathways.
Role details
• Full-time or part-time available
• Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
• £13.70 per hour
• Start ASAP
• Schools across Taunton and Bridgwater
• You must be a driver with your own transport
What the job involves
• Supporting pupils with additional needs in mainstream classrooms
• Helping children regulate emotions, understand tasks and engage positively with learning
• Working alongside teachers and support staff to provide a consistent, caring presence
• Adapting to different school environments and pupils’ needs
• Occasionally supporting more challenging behaviour — always with guidance from the school team
Who this role suits
We welcome applications from:
• Graduates
• Youth workers
• Sports coaches
• Support workers
• Aspiring teachers or psychologists
• Anyone who wants to help vulnerable young people thrive
You don’t need formal teaching experience — your kindness, reliability, patience and motivation are what matter most. Experience with young people is helpful but not essential.
Why this role is great:
• Flexible work that fits around hobbies, studies or other responsibilities
• Weekdays only, with evenings and weekends free
• A chance to make a real difference to children who need extra support
• Valuable experience in a variety of school settings
• Opportunities for long-term or permanent work
If you want a rewarding role where you can grow, learn and support young people who truly benefit from your presence, we’d love to hear from you.
