Graduate Mental Health Support in School
Specialist Provision – Monmouth
Axcis Education are working closely with a specialist educational provision in Monmouth is currently seeking graduate-level support staff to work with children and young people who present with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain meaningful experience in the education and mental health sectors. You will be part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team committed to helping pupils reach their potential through tailored learning and emotional support.
The role will involve:
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
• Supporting the delivery of structured and creative learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
• Encouraging emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and personal development
• Promoting engagement in education through personalised, pupil-led approaches
• Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to meet individual needs
Ideal candidates will:
• Be graduates in psychology, criminology, education, youth work, or a related field
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle (essential due to multiple school locations)
• Be passionate about supporting vulnerable learners and improving mental health outcomes
• Be resilient, proactive, and comfortable working in environments where behaviour can be complex and challenging
• Be flexible and willing to work across different sites in Monmouth as needed
Outdoor learning plays a key role in this provision, so a positive, hands-on approach and a willingness to get involved in active or practical sessions are essential.
This opportunity is well-suited to those considering a future in education, social care, youth work, or therapeutic services. Both long-term and flexible daily cover roles are available.
