Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join an independent, owner-managed fiduciary firm with an international reputation for delivering high-quality private client services. With a close-knit team of around 45 professionals, the firm offers a collaborative and agile working environment. This role leads a busy but compact Client Accounting function of five, offering excellent scope for future progression.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing all aspects of the client accounting function, overseeing financial reporting processes, liaising with Client Services teams, and supporting the broader operational delivery of fiduciary services. This is a senior manager-level role, offering progression potential to Associate Director in due course. It is not a Board-level position.
Key Responsibilities
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
• Leading the preparation and review of financial statements, management accounts and ad hoc reporting for a portfolio of HNW/UHNW clients.
• Agreeing reporting schedules with the Client Services team and managing workflow within the client accounting function.
• Overseeing bookkeeping and ensuring client expectations and statutory deadlines are met.
• Reviewing externally prepared financial statements, VAT returns, tax and regulatory filings for accuracy and timely delivery.
• Monitoring team KPIs and presenting updates in internal reporting forums, including the Operations and Compliance Committee.
• Supporting preparation of quarterly board packs and participating in internal governance meetings as required.
• Leading on internal account reconciliations and acting as the point of escalation for accounting queries.
• Mentoring and developing team members, promoting quality, accuracy and proactive delivery.
• Participating in the firm’s Tax Committee and supporting Guernsey income tax return preparation.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ fiduciary accounting experience and hold a recognised professional qualification. Proven experience managing a small team and liaising across operational departments is essential. Strong Excel skills, attention to detail and a collaborative approach will be key to success. Experience using Acumen is advantageous but not essential.
