Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step?

Axcis Education is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming specialist school this September. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or qualified HLTA who is confident leading lessons, delivering targeted interventions, and supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
You'll play a key role across the primary department, covering teacher PPA time, leading whole-class learning, delivering small group interventions, and providing high-quality classroom support.
About the Role
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver engaging lessons and personalised support that helps every pupil achieve their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading whole-class lessons during teacher PPA and planned absences.
• Delivering targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
• Supporting pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
• Assisting with the planning and delivery of personalised learning in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Promoting communication, independence, and confidence throughout the school day.
• Using positive behaviour support strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and engage with learning.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to meet individual pupil needs.
About the School
This purpose-built specialist school educates pupils aged 4–16 across both primary and secondary departments.
The school supports children and young people with:
• Autism (ASC)
• Learning difficulties
• Complex additional needs
• Speech, language and communication needs
The curriculum is tailored to each pupil's individual needs and includes English, Maths, Science, PE, PSHE, Art, Design Technology, Personal Development, Enrichment, and Engagement activities.
With small class sizes of just 8–10 pupils, staff can provide personalised support, helping pupils develop communication, independence, early literacy and numeracy skills, and social and emotional wellbeing.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
• An experienced Teaching Assistant or qualified HLTA.
• Confident leading lessons and managing a classroom independently.
• Passionate about supporting children with SEND.
• Calm, resilient, and nurturing when responding to behaviours that challenge.
• Skilled at recognising how communication needs can influence behaviour and adapting support accordingly.
• Knowledgeable about safeguarding procedures and committed to promoting the welfare of vulnerable children.
• A positive team player with excellent communication skills.
