Job Title: Learning Support Assistant – Special School (KS1–KS4)
Location: Taunton
Pay Rate: £92.00 – £109.00 per day
Job Type: Full-time – Term Time Only (Temporary or Long-term)
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? We are looking for a caring and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Taunton from September, supporting pupils from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a highly supportive special school environment that provides tailored education for pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, communication needs, moderate to profound learning difficulties, and physical or sensory needs.

About the Role:

You will support pupils both academically and socially, helping them access learning in a safe, structured, and engaging environment. The role will involve a mixture of 1:1 support and small group interventions, adapting learning to meet individual needs and encouraging confidence, independence, and progress.
You will work closely with teachers and therapists to help pupils develop communication, emotional regulation, life skills, and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional learning needs
• Deliver small group interventions focused on learning and development
• Support communication, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing
• Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs
• Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement
• Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and care at all times
