Description
Are you someone who genuinely cares, listens well, and wants to make a positive difference in a child’s life? We’re looking for a calm, dependable and encouraging person to support a Year 4 pupil on a 1:1 basis in a welcoming local primary school. The child has SEMH needs, ADHD and mild learning difficulties, and needs someone who can be a steady, reassuring presence each day.
Role details:
• Full-time, Monday to Friday – 8.30am to 3.30pm
• Start as soon as possible
• Pay: £13.70 per hour
• Initial 16-week settling period with potential to become permanent
• Working closely with the class teacher and pastoral team
• Helping the pupil stay engaged, feel secure, build confidence and access learning
About the school:
You’ll be joining a lively and supportive primary school that has been rated Good by Ofsted, with particular praise for behaviour, strong leadership and the way pupils are supported to develop personally as well as academically. The school has a friendly atmosphere, clear expectations and a nurturing approach that puts children’s wellbeing first.
The person matters more than the CV.
You don’t need the “perfect” background — what matters most is the right attitude and values. We’re looking for someone who is:
• Patient, kind and steady under pressure
• Positive and encouraging, even on tricky days
• Able to build trust and meaningful relationships
• Flexible, empathetic and reliable
• Willing to work closely as part of a supportive team
This role is perfect for youth workers, sports coaches, teaching assistants, support workers or anyone with a caring background who wants meaningful, purposeful work supporting a child who deserves consistency and belief.
What you’ll gain:
• A role with real purpose and daily impact
• Experience supporting SEMH and ADHD needs
• Ongoing guidance from a strong, caring school team
• The possibility of progressing into a permanent role
If you’d like to make a genuine difference and support a child to thrive, apply today to be considered for this role.
