Description
Our client is a leading international financial services group with a strong presence across several jurisdictions. They are looking for an experienced employment lawyer to provide specialist advice to their People function and senior leadership team.
This is a varied role covering domestic and international employment matters. It also offers the opportunity to support the wider Legal team in areas such as client and supplier contracts.
The position may be considered on a full-time or part-time basis, with hybrid or remote working available.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a trusted adviser on complex employment law matters across the group.
• Advise on employment contracts, policies, disciplinary matters, grievances, redundancies, restructures and disputes.
• Provide technical guidance on employee relations matters.
• Monitor changes to employment legislation across multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage employment tribunal claims and negotiate settlements.
• Liaise with external legal counsel when required.
• Draft and review employment contracts, staff handbooks and workplace policies.
• Identify employment-related legal risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the management of the organisation’s employee equity plan.
• Assist with supplier and client contract negotiations.
• Take an active role in legal and business-wide projects.
About You
The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer in the UK or another common-law jurisdiction. You will have gained substantial post-qualification experience within a respected law firm or in-house legal department, with employment law forming your core area of expertise.
You should also have:
• Approximately six years or more of post-qualification experience.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and workplace regulations.
• The ability to balance sound legal judgement with commercial awareness.
• Experience advising on complex and sensitive employee matters.
• Excellent drafting and attention to detail.
• The confidence to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• A proactive and adaptable approach.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills.
• The ability to deliver clear, practical advice in a fast-moving environment.
Previous in-house experience or exposure to international employment matters would be advantageous but is not essential.
