Job Title: MAPA-Trained SEND Support Practitioner
Location: All-Through Special School, Sutton, Wellington, SM6
Hours: 9am – 4pm
Age Range: 7–16

An all-through special school in Sutton is seeking a MAPA-trained practitioner to join their team, supporting pupils aged 7–16 with a range of needs including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
About the Role:
This position involves providing dedicated support to a male student who responds particularly well to calm, nurturing and consistent interaction. You will help him regulate, engage with learning, and feel secure throughout the day.
You’ll play a key part in supporting his academic, social, and emotional development across the all-through school, following the school’s therapeutic, child-centred approach.

• Avoid shouting – communication must remain calm, respectful, and never derogatory.
• Use soft communication – tone is crucial; staff must maintain a gentle and composed manner.

What We’re Looking For
MAPA training (essential)
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
Confidence working with pupils with MLD, ASD, and EBD
A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
Strong communication skills and commitment to therapeutic practice
