Mental Health Support worker - Wirral - From £89 per day
Axcis Education is a leading Special Educational Needs (SEND) agency working across the country to provide both short- and long-term roles in a variety of educational settings.
We are currently working with a highly regarded SEND school based in the Wirral, who are seeking a full-time Mental Health Support worker to join their dedicated team.
This role would suit someone with experience of supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour across a range of SEND needs including; Social, emotional & mental health difficulties, autism, ADHD and learning difficulties. You will play an important part in helping students with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties to engage positively in school life.
Key Responsibilities
Promote positive behaviour and provide consistent, supportive guidance.
Manage incidents of challenging behaviour safely and professionally, following school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
Support learning and engagement, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Record and report observations, incidents, and progress accurately and confidentially.
Work closely with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support for pupils.
Encourage emotional regulation and resilience, modelling calm, respectful, and empathetic communication.
Help to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where all pupils feel valued and supported.
In this role you will be supporting children who have a range of special educational needs so the ideal candidate will need to have experience working or studying in a relevant field or area. If you have relevant professional or personal experience, then we want to hear from you!
What we need from you:
At least 6 months personal or professional experience supporting adults or children with special educational needs.
OR
A certified qualification in a relevant area- education, psychology, drama etc
A graduate teaching assistant with a patient, compassionate and positive attitude.
Flexibility to work in school hours- contracts are usually 8:30am until 3-4:30pm Depending on the schools’ requirements
Ability to reliably commute to settings either by driving or public transport.
