Our client is a leading telecommunications provider operating across the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, delivering advanced connectivity and technology services to businesses and communities. An opportunity has arisen to join the Mobile team as a Mobile Voice Core Engineer, supporting the development and operation of the organisation’s mobile network infrastructure.
Role
Working 37.5 hours per week, the successful candidate will ensure the reliable operation, maintenance and evolution of the organisation’s Mobile Core network, including CS, EPC, IMS and associated platforms. The role supports high availability and performance across Packet Switched (PS) and Circuit Switched (CS) services, including technologies such as VoLTE and 5G Core.
The role also acts as a subject matter expert for IMS-based services including SIP, Cloud Voice, FTTH voice and Microsoft Teams Operator Connect, providing technical support for integration, troubleshooting and optimisation.
Key responsibilities
• Operate and maintain IMS, CS and EPC mobile core components, ensuring compliance with KPIs and SLAs
• Monitor and manage configuration, upgrades and patching of mobile core network elements including MME, SGW, PGW, PCRF, HSS, HLR and IMS nodes
• Troubleshoot complex issues across signalling protocols including Diameter, SIP and SS7
• Manage IMS platforms and SIP-based services supporting mobile and fixed voice solutions
• Support Cloud Voice and FTTH voice services and their integration with IMS platforms
• Implement and maintain Microsoft Teams Operator Connect services and related integrations
• Support roaming services and maintain interconnect and mobile support services such as SMS antifraud, voicemail and SIM steering
• Participate in network expansion, capacity planning and software upgrade projects
• Work closely with security teams to ensure the mobile core infrastructure remains secure and compliant
Person specification
• Strong understanding of 2G, 4G and 5G mobile networking and associated core technologies
• Experience with mobile core nodes such as MME, SGW, PGW, PCRF and HSS
• Knowledge of IMS components including SBC, S-CSCF, I-CSCF and BGCF
• Strong understanding of mobile network protocols including SIP, Diameter and SS7
• Knowledge of IP networks, routers, switches and dynamic routing protocols
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical teams
• Flexible approach to work, including participation in a callout rota
• Ability to adapt and learn new technologies within a rapidly evolving telecoms environment
