Description
An international life assurance and wealth solutions provider is seeking an accomplished senior compliance professional to undertake the prescribed role of Money Laundering Reporting Officer for its principal Guernsey entity and branches. Depending on experience, the position may also include MLRO or Deputy MLRO responsibility for other related Guernsey entities.
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, this influential role will provide subject-matter expertise across the business, lead the firm’s risk-based approach to financial crime and oversee a team responsible for supporting a robust anti-financial crime framework.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as MLRO, assuming ultimate responsibility for reviewing internal disclosures, determining external reporting requirements and liaising with competent authorities.
• Develop and maintain financial crime frameworks aligned with applicable legislation, regulation, group policies and business strategy.
• Oversee financial crime investigations, customer due diligence standards, screening arrangements and suspicious transaction reporting.
• Assess and monitor risks relating to money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, fraud, tax evasion, bribery and corruption.
• Provide authoritative advice and guidance to the Head of Compliance, senior management and legal entity boards.
• Prepare and present financial crime reports, risk assessments and management information to boards and governance committees.
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure appropriate changes are implemented across the business.
• Lead, engage and develop team members, ensuring objectives, deadlines and service standards are achieved.
• Maintain an effective financial crime training programme and support wider operational teams.
• Work collaboratively with compliance colleagues across the group to strengthen the overall anti-financial crime framework.
What You Need
• Previous or recent regulatory approval as an MLRO.
• Previous experience as an MLRO within a regulated financial services business.
• Significant second-line financial crime experience and strong technical knowledge of AML/CFT legislation and regulatory requirements.
• A relevant professional qualification in compliance and/or financial crime.
• People-management experience, including the ability to lead, develop and engage team members, is essential.
• Strong knowledge of financial products and industry practice; life assurance or insurance-sector experience would be advantageous.
• Experience producing and presenting board-level reports, risk assessments and management information.
• Excellent judgement, analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Strong stakeholder-management, communication and influencing skills.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into effective business controls.
