SEND Teaching Assistant – PMLD & Medical Needs

Location: Wallington, SM6
Hours: 9:00am – 3:45pm
Availability: Full-time, part-time and day-to-day opportunities available

Are you passionate about supporting pupils with complex SEND and helping them thrive in a specialist learning environment?

A welcoming and supportive specialist school in Wallington is looking for caring and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced SEND professionals, carers and parents of children with SEND who can bring valuable personal experience, patience and understanding to the role.

The school supports pupils with PMLD, complex learning needs, medical needs and a range of disabilities. You will work as part of a supportive team, building positive relationships with pupils and helping them develop their communication, independence and life skills.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with PMLD, complex learning needs and medical requirements
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Support communication, sensory development, independence and wellbeing
• Assist with personal care and mobility where required
• Support pupils with individual learning and development activities
• Encourage pupils to engage, explore and develop new skills
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other SEND professionals
• Help create a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

• Caring, patient and compassionate
• Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally within a school or specialist setting
• Comfortable supporting pupils with complex needs and personal care
• A strong communicator who can build positive relationships
• Flexible, proactive and willing to learn
• Able to work effectively as part of a wider team

Personal experience as a parent, carer or family member of someone with SEND is also valued and welcomed.
