About the Role
Are you a dedicated and compassionate education professional looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)?
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a supportive and forward-thinking inclusion team within a West London-based college. As a Post-16 Inclusion Student Support Assistant, you will work with learners aged 16 and above, providing essential support to help them succeed academically, socially, and personally.
This role involves supporting students with a range of additional needs, including those with learning difficulties, disabilities, and autism spectrum conditions. You will help create inclusive learning environments where all students feel valued, confident, and able to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND across a variety of subjects and levels.
Assist lecturers with the preparation of resources and delivery of tailored learning activities.
Support students in developing independence, confidence, and employability skills.
Encourage and model positive behaviour in line with the college’s behaviour policy.
Contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and keep accurate records of student progress and attendance.
Provide pastoral and emotional support to ensure students feel safe and supported.
Accompany students on college visits, trips, and enrichment activities.
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion at all times.
Person Specification
Previous experience supporting young people with SEND in an educational or care setting.
Strong empathy, patience, and understanding of diverse learner needs.
Good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently under guidance and use initiative when required.
Willingness to undertake training and development, including safeguarding and first aid.
Basic IT skills and confidence in record keeping.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
