Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience supporting young people with complex behavioural profiles? Do you want a role that deepens your understanding of human behaviour, communication, and emotional development—while strengthening your pathway into Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Therapy, or SEND Teaching?

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEND school in North Bristol, where we work closely with the trust to provide high-quality staff. The setting supports children and young people with significant behavioural, emotional, and communication needs, making this an ideal placement for graduates wanting applied, real-world experience in a highly supportive environment.

For candidates who perform well, there is a genuine opportunity to secure a permanent role with the school.

About the Setting

This specialist school supports learners who present with complex behavioural profiles, emotional regulation challenges, and varied SEND needs, often including ASC and communication differences. Students benefit from a consistent, structured, and therapeutic approach to learning—delivered by a dedicated team of behaviour specialists, teachers, therapists, and support staff.

The leadership team is experienced, forward-thinking, and committed to ongoing staff development. They offer substantial training and reflective practice opportunities, making this an ideal environment for psychology graduates ready to grow their skills and confidence.

Why Psychology Graduates Thrive in This Role

This role gives psychology graduates invaluable, applied experience that directly links to key theories and concepts learned during your degree. You will have the opportunity to:

Explore behaviour at its source by working with students whose emotional and behavioural responses are shaped by trauma, attachment, sensory needs, and communication differences.

Develop a deep understanding of regulation, co-regulation, and behaviour as communication—core principles in Educational and Clinical Psychology.

Apply psychological theory in real time, including conditioning, child development, neurodiversity, cognitive processing, and therapeutic relationships.

Build therapeutic communication and de-escalation skills through training in trauma-informed practice, PACE, THRIVE, and relational approaches.

Strengthen your reflective practice, learning how to analyse triggers, patterns, and environmental factors in behaviour.

Gain substantial experience for future applications, whether you're aiming for EP training, assistant psychologist roles, mental health support roles, teaching, or postgraduate therapy programmes.

This setting provides exactly the kind of high-quality, hands-on experience that universities and employers look for—while allowing you to make a meaningful, visible difference every day.
