Description
Axcis is working with a SEND school in the Erdington area who specialise in supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), the school caters to individuals aged 7 to 16 years, ensuring that each individuals specific needs are met. The school requires teachers for day to day illness and planned absence cover across all year groups.
The school is looking for early career teachers (ECT) and/or qualified teachers with QTS to work on a full-time basis (Monday-Friday, 8am to 4pm) delivering lessons in accordance with the lesson plans pre-prepared by the class teacher. Experience in working with individuals with ASC needs including distressing behaviour that challenges as well as non/pre-verbal communication and additional sensory needs.
This is such a key role within the school; the importance of having a regular, dependable and consistent teacher to cover absence ensures that pupils aren’t faced with a day of dysregulation and upset because the usual teacher is absent.

Requirements:

• Experience of working with pupils with ASC – Desirable
• Experience of working with individuals who can display distressing behaviour that challenges as well as non/pre-verbal communication and additional sensory needs – Desirable
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or we’re happy to carry out a new one ahead of you starting the position – Essential
• Minimum of 2 good references – Essential
