Description
Secondary Teaching Assistant – SEND – Chorley (PR7)
Secondary School | Monday–Friday
Do you have the confidence to make a difference in a busy secondary school environment?
Axcis Education is looking for a strong, motivated and adaptable individual to join a secondary school in the PR7 area of Chorley.
This isn't a role for someone who prefers to sit back and observe. We need someone who is proactive, confident managing behaviour and able to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining clear boundaries.
You'll be supporting pupils across different classrooms, subjects and year groups, so flexibility, resilience and the ability to think on your feet are essential.
If you have previous UK SEND experience, enjoy working with teenagers and aren't afraid of a challenge, this could be the opportunity for you!
The Role
This is a school-wide support position, meaning you will be working across the secondary school rather than being assigned to one pupil or classroom.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting pupils with SEND across different subjects and year groups.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required.
• Confidently managing behaviour and responding to challenging situations.
• Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
• Helping pupils access lessons and remain focused on learning.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
• Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider support team.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must:
• Have at least 6 months' relevant UK SEND experience, gained through paid employment, extensive personal caring responsibilities or voluntary experience supporting children or adults with SEND.
• Be aged 18 or over.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
• Be available Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm.
• Be confident managing behaviour and dealing with challenging situations.
• Be comfortable supporting secondary-aged pupils across different classrooms and year groups.
• Be proactive, resilient, reliable and confident using your initiative.
• Be able to travel reliably to PR7 and the surrounding Chorley areas.
• Have an overseas police clearance certificate for any country where you have spent six months or more within the last five years (where applicable).
Location: Chorley, PR7
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Reliable travel to PR7 is essential. Candidates must be comfortable commuting to the school consistently.
Who Would Suit This Role?
We are looking for someone who is confident, assertive and approachable, with the ability to build trust while maintaining clear boundaries.
You must be comfortable working in a busy secondary school environment, adapting to different situations and managing behaviour calmly and consistently.
Ready to Apply?
If you have previous UK SEND experience, are confident managing behaviour and enjoy supporting young people, we'd love to hear from you!
Whether your experience comes from paid employment, voluntary work or extensive personal caring responsibilities, we welcome applications from individuals with the right skills, attitude and experience.
