Position: SEMH Teacher
Location: SM5
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm
Contract: Full Time
Salary: Paid to Scale
We are seeking a resilient, compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join a vibrant and supportive primary school located in the SM5 area. This full-time role is ideal for someone with a passion for working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and who thrives in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
About the Role:
You will be teaching a small class of primary-aged pupils with significant SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. The role requires a strong, calm presence, high levels of emotional intelligence, and the ability to build meaningful, trusting relationships with children who have often experienced trauma or disrupted education. You’ll work closely with a supportive team including specialist TAs, SENCO, and pastoral staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the emotional and academic needs of pupils
Promote positive behaviour and implement effective behaviour management strategies
Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Collaborate with support staff, parents, and external professionals
Contribute to EHCP reviews, behaviour plans, and progress tracking
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour, ideally in a primary setting
A calm, empathetic approach and strong behaviour management skills
Commitment to inclusion, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
