Description

Axcis Education is currently seeking an experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Manchester. This full-time role involves general classroom support while having a clear focus on children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with more complex needs and behavioural challenges.

While the role is not exclusively 1:1, you will be expected to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of children within the classroom. Pupils may present with a range of difficulties including autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, sensory processing needs, speech and language delays and social, emotional or mental health (SEMH) challenges. Some children may not yet have a formal diagnosis, so an open-minded, flexible and trauma-informed approach is essential.

Experience working within a UK primary school is required, and you must have a confident understanding of how to support children with additional needs. While no one is expected to know everything, it is crucial that you are willing to learn, reflect, and respond appropriately to challenging situations. The ability to remain calm, consistent and supportive under pressure is key to success in this role.

Positive behaviour management is a vital part of the position. You will work closely with teaching staff and the wider SEN team to implement support strategies that help children stay engaged, regulate their emotions, and feel safe in school. An understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection is also essential.

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required for this role, or you must be willing to apply for one as part of the recruitment process. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in SEN within a supportive, structured environment where every day brings something new.

If you're passionate about inclusion and have the experience and resilience to support children with a range of additional needs, we would love to hear from you.
